Police Body Camera causes complications

The police body camera creates so many complications, such as the cost, privacy, and inability to record everything. Some might argue that the police body cameras are strongly needed due to justice and situations related to prejudice, discrimination, and racism which frequently occur in this era, however, the police body cameras are getting far away from its original purpose of protecting citizens by offering accessible record. Cost itself is not expensive, but the unaffordable one is the storage expenses. Also in a recent survey taken by some organization, it turned out that 40% of police officers consider the cost as the primary problem of police body camera.

Also, as it possess the ability to provide fair judgment of police officers, police officers are not granted the privacy. Besides that problem, it also might lack some record because it is impossible to record everything. Also, the police can be making signals when they wear the cameras and not actually act like they do when they do not wear the camera. For instance, some police have been making signs whenever they wear the body cameras.

As it is a double-edged sword and delicate, there should be careful consideration. We, as students, firmly believe that police cameras won’t be required to be equipped with police officers as long as crimes are taken care of without discrimination, prejudice, and racism. And soon, people will son witness positive changes regarding police officer’s taking care of crimes.
