About Chang

Changho Kim, a fifteen year old adolescent, was born in a small village off the coast of South Korea on November 19, 1999. By 2004, his parents had saved up enough money to move to America; so their child could obtain more opportunities to succeed. Throughout Elementary School Chang focused on being kind, communicating, and playing. When it came to Junior High, Chang focused on his studies and passed all his classes with A’s. Immediately upon his middle school graduation, he started planning for his future. Chang’s ninth and tenth grade experiences led him to choose political science as a future major and being a paralegal as a future job. He does speech and debate and Model U.N. as extracurricular activities. Chang’s future looks bright and promising.        

About Lauren

Lauren Yu is 16 years old and currently attends Van Nuys High School as a junior. Although she is the assistant financial officer for her journalism class, she enjoys writing for her school newspaper, The Mirror. She is also in the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps as a battalion officer as the special projects officer, or otherwise known as the S-5. She loves the South Korean band, EXO, and various other South Korean pop artists. As a college-bound student, she wants to excel in her studies to successfully attend a prestigious college. At her college, she would like to major in education to teach young students. She hopes to become an elementary school teacher because she likes to be with kids and to teach them, for they will be the ones that will lead us to success as the future generations. Therefore, she is working at an academy where she teaches elementary school students as the teacher assistant. She finds satisfaction when she sees the students learning and understanding the various concepts that she teaches. Although she can’t influence the world as a K-pop star, she hopes to successfully be a beneficial influence on the students.

About Choha

Choha Kim is a 15 year old junior in Brea Olinda High School. She especially is involved in journalism field by being a staff writer for school newspaper WILDCAT, Korea Daily, and student editor-in-chief for Beautiful Brea Old and New community online newspaper. Besides that, she is a president for JV Academic Decathlon, International Committee of Music, and Disney Friends for Change club in her school. Also she is serving as a Cali-Nevada-Hawaii Key Club D30N division leader; bulletin editor. Representing her unique background, she performed Haeguem, Korean traditional instrument in LA and won awards in competition and hope to continue. In her spare time, she enjoys being a tutor for her peer after school, helping with various subjects such as Chemistry, Algebra 2, Algebra 1, and so on and she is looking forward to being a copy editor for yearbook and secretary for her junior class. Through this Korea Daily Summer Camp, she wants to share her interest with other mentors and mentees.

About Joshua

Joshua Chang is currently a senior student attending Mark Keppel High School in Monterey Park, California. He enjoys to spend his free time browsing through multiple discussion forums social media sites, reading novels (from classics to new best-sellers), and listening to music. He also has a strong interest in sports as he had been involved with the Track and Field team at his high school for the past 2 years. While improving himself on a day-to-day schedule, Joshua also aims to improve the team as a whole to become more unified and motivated to achieve success. Joshua also has a strong interest in volunteering as he is an active member in various service clubs in his school (i.e National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation, Key Club, and Crown & Sceptre). Through his service, Joshua hopes to make an impact on his surrounding community and to inspire others into action towards their own goals. As his final year of high school approaches, Joshua ultimately aims to achieve high academics and physical feats to create an imprint on his peers.

About Irene

Irene Park is 13 years old and attends Campbell Hall School. She is going into the eighth grade. She likes to do archery and to swim. She likes to do art, such as drawing and painting. She plays the flute in her band at school. She also likes to make crafts, such as origami and sculptures. She enjoys going to the beach and watching sunsets. She likes to take pictures of anything interesting and pretty. She likes to travel and go to places such as Korea and Hawaii. In order to go to Korea, she has attended Korean school for 4 years and can now read, write, and speak Korean fluently. She has one younger brother who is ten years old. He is going into the fifth grade. Everyday afterschool, she goes to an after school to learn more math and English to get ahead in school.

About Andrew

Andrew Kim is a 12 year old boy who lives with his parents and a brother, and he attends Hawthorne Middle School in Beverly Hills, California. He enjoys swimming, which he has swam competitively for six years, eating his favorite foods (i.e Korean BBQ, rice, pasta), playing games on his laptop and tablet, “turtle-keeping”, and learning new tricks with his yo-yo during his free time. He has practiced the violin for almost six years, piano for two years, and has just started playing the guitar, though he has no interest in becoming a musician and he would much rather listen to dubstep and electronic music. Just like his father and brother, he is learning to code. His free time and hobbies also reflect in his aspirations for the future as he wishes that he could become a better swimmer and casual gamer. Coincidentally, Andrew finds himself intrigued by the technical specifics and designs of computers.

About Johnny

Johnny Jeon is a 10 year old boy going into the sixth grade, and he attends Los Coyotes Junior High School. He likes the color red, and he enjoys writing stories about superheroes. He likes to play sports, such as soccer and basketball. He also likes to play games such as Geometry Dash on his phone and his computer.  He plays piano every day and goes to Thanksgiving church on Friday, Saturday, and Monday. He likes to eat California Roll and loves to eat Korean foods, such as Korean Barbeque, Kimchi. He likes to dance. His favorite books are from the Mazerunner series. He likes climbing trees. His dog’s name is Ash and he likes to play with his dog. His mom suggested him to participate in the Korea Daily leadership camp. Sometimes he likes to lay on the bed and play on his  phone at the same time. He loves his family.
